Alston Conservation Appraisal & Management Plan Consultation

This is a description and assessment of the historical, architectural and townscape qualities of Alston conservation area. It aims to encourage the conservation, repair, reuse and management of the town’s historic environment. The public consultation will run from Monday 31 October to Monday 12 December and we welcome your comments and feedback during this period.

New picnic benches

Tyne Willows has two new picnic benches besides the pavilion, and 2 new seats are to be put besides the river.

Jubilee tree planting in Garrigill

A team of helpers planted the third of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee trees, a Japanese Flowering Cherry in Garrigill. Alston’s lime tree was planted on Gala Day at Tyne Willows Playing Field and the rowan tree for Nenthead planted by local residents and school children at Nenthead Mines. Thanks to all who took part.
