WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (FOOTPATH NO. 302146 IN THE PARISH OF ALSTON MOOR) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS) ORDER 2023

Following a successful application to the Secretary of State, Westmorland and Furness Council has approved the extension of the closure of a section of public footpath 302146 in Alston Moor, as shown on the attached location plan. This is because of the likelihood of danger to the public during bridge works. The closure will now be in effect until the 19th December 2026.

No alternative route has been given.

For information, this bridge is 35 metres long with several piers. It is in a remote area which experiences flooding, so construction may prove difficult. The Countryside Access team are hoping to assign a contractor to design and build a new bridge structure, which will then hopefully be built in summer 2026.
